Michael Christopher Brown – In Sicily

Join Michael Christopher Brown on his Sicilian journey and make your photoreport: five intensive days side by side with the American photographer, the first in the world to make a war report – Libyan revolution of 2011 – using IPhone. He has worked with Magnum Photos, National Geographic and with a high number of publications and agencies. An in-person workshop, in the classroom and outdoors, during which Brown will explain how to design a contemporary reportage, choose the narrative model, capture critical moments, opening you to new perspectives and opportunities in the world of photojournalism. At the end of the training course, on the morning of October 5th you will participate in the seminar “The profession of the photojournalist. From the optical bench to the Iphone.” Speakers, in addition to Michael Christopher Brown, Alberto Castelvecchi, Ezio Costanzo, Carmelo Nicosia.

Who is it for?

The workshop – in classroom and outside – is aimed at photography professionals and students and offers the opportunity to work in contact with one of the most important contemporary photojournalists.

The main theme, which Michael Christopher Brown will focus on, will be the profession of the photojournalist in the era of great multimedia and digital changes. That is, the narration of events and people – conflicts, populations, cities, environment – in the time of the iPhone but without losing sight of the human figure of the photojournalist, the only protagonist in determining the final result of each shot.
A specific study will be dedicated to the communication and dissemination of images via the web.
Brown will provide his valuable experience for learning the aspects related to the conception and preparation of the photo report, the choice of the narrative model and the logistical and organizational aspects.

The workshop will be held in compliance with the Anticovid directives in force in Italy at the time of the workshop
